Default Out of curiousity (mesmer question)

I was just wondering, with DSlash and Evicerate warriors being common warrior builds, how common are the Visage skills with mesmers in PvP and if those skills aren't that commonly found, why not?

Evis has been popular for the past...3ish years. Yet no one brings the visage skills. There's a reason. It's in a shitty attribute line for regular dom mesmers, costs 10 energy, has a relative long recharge for a prot skill (at least that's how it'd be used), and simply isn't that great since its effect is only useful when the warrior is building (which means less adrenaline loss).

Also, Blackout does the same thing is emptying an adrenaline pool, but it's in a better attribute and can be used offensively too.-

Mkay. For something like Dslash it'd seem like it'd be a good way to kill the skill before someone got it going and since it saps energy it'd help against the other melee classes. Thanks for letting me know, that's why I asked. At this point in the game there are reasons why a lot of skills are never used, I just don't know them all yet.

The Visage skills are enchantments, actually, and the adrenaline and energy loss in adjacent AoE. So you don't really need a hex overload build to run it, but Illusion Mesmers tend to have other skills (usually hexes) they need to bring. But otherwise, it's not any easier to remove than other enchantments.

However, if you know the Warriors are spiking the same target and can "prot" it with a Visage at the right time, you should clear both Warriors' adrenaline when the first one hits.

A better use might be to aggro the footmen into a chokepoint, Visage the person they've aggro'd on, and hassle the opposing backline with a bunch of purple -3's. But the downsides mentioned by previous posters still apply. The key is still to find the right bar with a slot free, and be able to justify bringing a Visage over another utility skill.

I've seen them used a few times over the years. A prot that clears a Warrior's adrenaline and nothing else isn't worth a slot, that's all.

Visage was really a PvE skill for farming etc. where a bunch of melee monsters mindlessly bunch up on the prot target. In PvP the warrior swap targets, if they can't build adrenaline on one they will instantly switch to another. With a 20sec recharge you cant keep proting every target. If you are an Illusion Mesmer and you wanted to deny adrenaline, Soothing Images would probably work better but at 15enegy I doubt it would be worth it.

I wouldn't say it was really designed for that though. Functionality-wise, it has potential to function as a decent prot, the cost and recharge are simply too high to justify it.

The attribute line isn't really a major concern, it would be effective at damaging build-ups even at zero spec.
